You are one of the last guardians in the world, a soldier named Avil, equipped with the skills to fight an endless wave of Ravenii. Fight the huge Grounders and their minions across the vast countryside, defending towns and rescuing refugees torn from their homes.
From the people who brought us awesome fighting games like Divikk and Killer Instinct, Extinction, a monster title like no other. Coming to Microsoft's Xbox One, Extinction proves that bigger is surely better.
Developed by Iron Galaxy, Extinction takes cues from video games with similar themes, such as Monster Hunter and the recent shadow remake of Colossus. By that we mean that players must travel through an open-world setting, fighting a range of huge monsters in the process.
Extinction sees players take on the role of Avil, the smallest of an elite ancient group of humans known as the Guardians. As a Guardian, the gamer must defend human settlements from the vicious Ogres called Ravenii. The Ravenii have not fought humans for many years, and the 150 -foot beasts must be hacked and slashed until they are slain.
The Ravenii went silent after a bitter conflict that destroyed much of the world's resources and civilisations. Finding that these monstrous beasts are returning to wreak havoc once again, gamers must try to stop as much damage as possible.
When it comes to button mashing, Extinction creates a much simpler combat format than some other games in the genre. By simplifying the controls, players don't have to follow complicated commands to create any lasting damage on their enemies. Attacks can be cancelled and the protagonist can perform all sorts of movement styles, whether in combat or walking around the map.
Featuring colourful and direct graphics, Extinction is sure to be another stab at the genre, and with the amazing performance capabilities of the Xbox One, you can expect a fluid and smooth gaming experience.
